Clayton, North Carolina

In 2007, a town of Clayton facilities assessment determined the need to expand the existing police headquarters. The town was committed to introducing this expansion adjacent to the existing facility in downtown to continue their practice of design excellence. The new facility nearly quadruples the space for the expanding needs of the police department and provides tenant space for potential inter-agency groups from the county and state. The building is a mediator between worlds: the historic context of downtown Clayton versus the forward-looking 21st century community it has become; between a secure facility that protects and the open, inviting neighbor that serves.
